Island to island swimrun - FAQ

Is this a individual race?

Yes, Skär till skär swimrun is a individual swimrun.

What gear do I need?

Following is mandatory: A visible swim cap that must be worn on the head during each swim leg. We will provide one on race day. We also require each participants to carry a whistle that can catch race official attention should some trouble occur in the water. In addition, we recommend:

- Wetsuit. You will do well in a all-round thin wetsuit. For the more advanced competitors there are of course more expensive models designed for swimrun, but a more simple suit will definitely take you through this race.

- Running shoes. Shoes that give your feet good support can be a good idea. The route is mainly along shores and rocks. Therefore your feet and ankles could use supportive shoes.

- Swimming goggles. Your swimming becomes a lot more comfortable and they make navigating in water easier.

What shoes are allowed?

Running shoes and studded shoes are allowed, spiked shoes are not.

What other gear is allowed?

- Hand paddles are allowed.

- Flotation like for example a pull buoy i allowed. As you swim with your running shoes on, these will drag your lower body downwards. Therefore it is a good idea to use extra flotation. Another option is flotation pads in the socks.. Remember that everything you start the race with needs to be carried through out the whole race. It is not allowed to leave gear at any point of the route.

- Other flotation aid. We are not strict with the rules on flotation gear, e.g. flotation jackets or similar may be worn as long as they do not give a competitive advantage over the gear allowed in the rules. If they make you feel safer, use them. We want to stress that all participants do need to know how to swim.
